If you are a regular reader of this blog firstly thank you, and secondly, you will have noticed a distinct lack of blog posts for the last 3 weeks. There is a reason for that. And the reason is that I was on holiday with the family.
This wasn’t just any holiday for us. It was the longest time we have been away together, and indeed for both me and the children the longest time we have ever gone on holiday. Given that the children have been alive for 9 and 6 years, oldest and youngest respectively I guess that’s not saying much, but I’ve been on the earth for a number of decades now and this was still the longest time I have ever been away.

We went to Orlando, USA. There is one main reason for going to Orlando in most people’s minds, and that was exactly what we went for. We went to Disney World, Universal Studios and Seaworld and had an absolutely amazing, overwhelming, exhausting and brilliant time. We arrived back in the UK on Friday morning tired, happy, definitely jet-lagged (I am actually writing this post at 2am on Sunday night as I cannot sleep at all tonight), theme parked out, ready for a bit of normality that we hope will arrive on Monday morning. It was also my eldest’s 9th birthday on Saturday, so that kept the adrenaline in our house pretty high for another day. I must admit I am not looking forward to the very tired school run I will be doing with the children tomorrow after their first day back at school after all of this excitement.
Disney World is a place full of music and shows, and no doubt I will have some things to share with you about my trip in the next few weeks/months as I get around to writing it up- including a very fun round of golf on a crazy golf course based on one of my favourite Disney films Fantasia- lots of fun even though I was dreadful at it!

But I mentioned a milestone in my heading and it would be remiss of me to finish this blog post without mentioning that milestone:- I have been writing this blog now for a few years. Sporadically at first with one of my children at home a few days a week and then both of them at home a lot during Covid; but in the past 2 years it has become a much more consistent endeavour as my children are both now in school full time. Up until probably September last year there were only a couple of hundred people each month reading anything I wrote – and I know that at least a few of you were family members (thank you for reading every post!) and while I am happy if even a few people like what I wrote, I do want this to actually make some income so I can keep doing it.
Anyway, last month, while I was in America, I noticed that I had hit and exceeded a bit of a milestone, and that was having 2,000 people view my blog posts last month. To many bloggers that is a tiny number of people viewing the stuff they write. To me that is a big step in the direction I want this blog to go. So I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you who stop by and read any of the posts I write. I really enjoy doing this, and am excited to see what I can do with the blog by this time next year!
Here’s to the next 12 months.
