Gasoline & Matches

Gasoline & Matches are a high energy, multi-award winning, dual fronted British band combining close harmonies, melodic guitar licks and serious musicianship. Fronted by Birmingham natives Sally Rea Morris and Stephen Marks, they are fierce entertainers known for their tongue-in-cheek and much-loved song “Never Have I Ever” described by Bob Harris as “Clever, funny, totally original…and it’s Country!” They built momentum after multiple spins on BBC Radio 2, and never fail to get festival goers on their feet to participate in the infamous drinking game which inspired the song. As resident hosts of Nashville Sounds in the Round, their Bluebird Cafe style songwriter round at Birmingham Symphony Hall, it’s clear to see their contribution & influence on Country and Americana music in the Midlands.

Two Ways Home

Two Ways Home are the songwriters: Isabella and Lewis Folkner, hailing from Austria and the UK respectively, fusing catchy melodies, rich harmonies, and rocky guitars to create a sound that is a refreshing blend of country, folk, and rock. Over the past years Two Ways Home have established themselves as a firm favourite in the UK country/Americana scene, winning best duo at the 2020 Country Music Spotlight Awards and receiving consecutive BCMA nominations for the last 3 years running. For fans of Fleetwood Mac, the Lumineers, and popular TV show “Daisy Jones & The Six,” Two Ways Home are on an exhilarating musical evolution.

Luke Flear

From rich, raspy vocals and roaring guitar solos to acoustic deep cuts and piano ballads, Luke is Roots-Rock at its finest. Born in Leeds, England, Luke has performed across Europe since the age of 15, and made his move into the Country Music Scene during the summer of 2022. He has since supported Nashville and UK based Artists, took to the stages of major UK Country Festivals and venues, as well songwriter rounds and other Americana events across 2023. In 2024, Luke supported Drake Milligan on his sold out UK tour, and made his debut at C2C in London’s 02 Arena, Black Deer Festival and more. His classic showmanship style has earned him spots on line ups alongside Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, Joe Bonamassa and more. Through the songwriting, instrumental virtuosity and natural love for the stage, Flear is among many others bound to change the UK’s relationship with the genre. Every instrument you hear on record is played and produced by Luke, with the debut album Looks Country To Me exploring countless themes of ambition, addiction, love and hate in true singer-songwriter style. Winning “Song” and “Male Singer of the year” at the 2023 UK Country Radio awards as the years top finalist, Luke Flear is next to take on the challenge of conquering Country music in Britain and further.

“Bach is an astronomer, discovering the most marvellous stars. Beethoven challenges the universe. I only try to express the soul and the heart of man.”
Frederyk Chopin

Chopin’s genius changed the course of the piano – and music itself – yet it also bridged the gap between the connoisseur and the casual listener. The great Polish pianist Arthur Rubinstein, reflecting on his long career, noted how Chopin’s music transcends barriers, uniting people from all walks of life, saying, “Sometimes, I think that I am not so much a pianist but a vampire. All my life, I have lived off the blood of Chopin.”

James Lisney returns to the Bradshaw Hall at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with some of Chopin’s best-loved piano music. This programme displays the Polish composer’s mastery of epic narration (the ballades), profound poetry (a representative selection of nocturnes), and the skills of the salon virtuoso (the impromptus).
